CRM Selection Scorecard

If I hired someone tomorrow, could I hand them a territory, a comp plan, and a clear definition of what success looks like in 90 days?

Before you can build the Lean CRM Stage Framework, you need a CRM to build it in. This scorecard compares candidates on the factors that actually matter for a lean early-stage sales team — not every feature on a vendor's homepage — and lets you weight them by what you actually care about.

Data sources & methodology

SaaS pricing changes often and varies by contract term, seat count, and region. Verify current pricing directly on each vendor's site before deciding — don't quote these numbers to a board or a vendor rep.

STEP 1
Team size & priorities

Set your seat count for accurate annual cost, then weight the four factors by how much each actually matters to your team.

Defaults to 10, matching the Territory Design Model's first-hire wave.
STEP 2
Compare candidates

Adjust the seeded scores based on your own trial, or add a platform that isn't listed. 1 = weak / missing, 5 = best-in-class for this factor.

Ranked by weighted fit

Sorted by weighted feature score under your current priorities. Value index is feature points per $1,000 of annual spend — a high scorer that's also expensive isn't automatically wrong, but you should know which trade-off you're making.

STEP 3
Think it through
Which of these four factors will your reps actually touch every day, versus the one that sounded good in the demo?
What's the real cost of switching CRMs in 12 months if this pick is wrong — migrated data, retraining, broken integrations?
Does your top-ranked platform still win if you imagine your team at 3x its current size?
