Value Proposition Worksheet
Value Proposition Worksheet

Know the problem. Prove the result.

A working session for defining, stakeholder by stakeholder, the exact problem your product solves and the measurable result you deliver over the status quo.

How to use this worksheet

One page, two passes, per stakeholder

Work through every stakeholder even if a couple feel like a stretch — the ones that feel hardest to fill in are usually where the value proposition is weakest.

1

Fill in Round 1 fast

Don't overthink it. Write the status quo problem and the result you believe you deliver, in plain language, even if it's rough.

2

Sit with it

Come back — ideally with a colleague or the client in the room — and read Round 1 out loud. Where does it sound vague? Where would a skeptic push back?

3

Fill in Round 2

Rewrite the problem and the result as single, specific sentences. A real number beats an adjective every time.

4

Transfer to the summary grid

Once every stakeholder page is refined, pull the Round 2 answers into the one-page summary at the end. That grid is your value proposition, stated seven ways.

01

Primary Clinical Audience

The clinician(s) who use the product hands-on and whose clinical judgment it is meant to support first.

Round 1 — First Pass — Get It on Paper
Status quo today
What does this stakeholder currently deal with? What's frustrating, slow, risky, or costly about the way things work now — before this product?
Measurable result we provide
What changes for them, and how would you measure it — time saved, cost reduced, errors avoided, outcomes improved? A number, if you can get one.
Round 2 — Refine — Sharpen It Into One Line
Refined problem statement
Rewrite Round 1 as a single, specific sentence. Cut anything vague — no "improves," "streamlines," or "enhances" without a concrete before/after.
Refined measurable result
Rewrite as one sentence with a real number or unit attached: a %, a dollar figure, a time saved, a rate changed.
Stress test
If a skeptical version of this stakeholder read your sentence, what would make them believe it — and what would they push back on?
02

Secondary Clinical Audience

Clinicians who touch or are influenced by the product without being its main daily user — referring providers, specialists, care-team members.

03

Administrators

Practice managers, department heads, or hospital administrators who own budget, staffing, and workflow decisions.

04

Payers

Insurers, value-based care organizations, or reimbursement decision-makers who determine whether and how this gets paid for.

05

Patients

The end recipient of care — the person the product is ultimately meant to help.

Operations

The internal team that keeps the day-to-day running — scheduling, supply chain, IT, facilities.

Bringing it together

The one-page value proposition

Pull the Round 2 answers from each stakeholder page into this grid. Read down the third column — if it reads like a list of real, provable outcomes, the value proposition is ready to pitch.
